Our Nursery Ministry at the Chicago Temple provides childcare in the 4th Floor Nursery on Sundays from 8:15-12:30. There are two trained and paid staff working at all times, and trained volunteers complete our team of caregivers. There is a designated area in the elevator lobby for stroller parking.
Childcare in the nursery is designed for children 3 and under. We do require children to be potty trained to join our pre-school Sunday School class.
Young children with their parents are invited to use our Family Worship Center in the Mabuhay Fellowship space right behind the sound proof class. There are also resources here that families can take into worship to help children engage more deeply with the service.

Our Children’s Ministry, 4th Floor Ministries is designed to help children grow in their faith through worship, christian education, and service. Guiding our ministry is the belief that children are God’s beloved creation – created, redeemed, equipped, called, and loved.
Children are encouraged to attend worship services with their families. Worship aids are located near the entrance doors to help children engage more fully in the service. With their families, children are invited to serve in worship as they feel called and gifted. Children in 4th grade and up are invited to serve as acolytes.
Sunday School meets every Sunday from 9:45 – 10:45 on the 4th Floor. Parents or guardians sign the children in and pick them up. Volunteer teachers provide quality lessons from the lectionary curriculum Seasons of the Spirit. These lessons are designed to help children become familiar with the stories of faith and the liturgical practice of the church, as well as line up with the scripture and preaching from worship.

Youth are invited to fully participate in worship in the ways that they feel called and gifted.

Youth meet at least once a month for fellowship on the second Sunday of the month from 12:15 – 2 pm. Join us for a great time and make new friends, play games, and grow in your faith with devotions.
Our youth recognize that faith and beliefs shape how we are in the world. We engage in service projects through fundraising, cooking for the homeless ministry, advocating for justice, and various projects benefiting our sister church in the Washington Park neighborhood. We also have a yearly in town mission trip, and an out of state mission trip.
Confirmation classes will be offered October 2017 and are designed for high school youth. Confirmation requires a significant commitment from the student and their family. It is a year program from October-October. For more information please contact Deacon Erin Simmons
The sacrament of baptism for an infant is a covenant with God to care for your own spiritual life as well as provide ways for your child to experience God for themselves. The church is committed to help by supporting the baptized child and their family through the life and ministry of the church. We recognize that Christian Education is done both at home and as well as at church.
Baptisms are done primarily in the 11:00 worship service on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month. To inquire about having a baptism at The Chicago Temple, please fill out the online form here
At the Chicago Temple we know that parents need support and encouragement in their faith walk as they model and teach faith to their children. We also know that intergeneration ministry and experiences are beneficial at all ages as they help establish relationships outside of our peer groups. These relationships give us strength as we go through all of the stages of life together as the body of Christ.
There are various adult bible study groups for parents to join.
The Parents of Youth and Children class meets in the 4th floor conference room, 420, near the children’s Sunday school rooms. This group studies a variety of topics during the year, including a book of the Bible, Christian parenting, a theological or current book that is a discussion for the Christian faith, and Wesleyan understanding of the faith.
