Art Gallery

The Temple Art Gallery was made possible by the vision of Rev. Jerry Forshey, and through memorial funds given in his name, was established in October, 2010.  Its mission is to make visible the mission statement of the Temple itself, by educating and empowering the world through beautiful and sometimes challenging artwork of high quality. One of the primary goals of the Temple Gallery is to enhance the visual display with poetry readings, live music, artist talks, and community discussions.

Our first exhibit, “Keep In Flight,” a retrospective photography exhibit featuring the work of Pulitzer-Prize-winning photojournalist John H. White, was mounted between Nov. 7, 2010, and February 28, 2011.  Following this, “The Power of Women” exhibit contained sculptures, colorful quilting and needlework, photography, and painting of seven women artists from very diverse backgrounds.

The curator of the Temple Art Gallery is Patricia Devine-Reed, who leads a sub-committee of the Fine Arts Committee in order to fulfill the mission and accomplish the tasks of presenting four exhibits annually.  If you would like to participate in some way, please don’t hesitate to contact Pat or Erik.
