One Book, One Congregation
One book, One Congregation
Taking a page from the City of Chicago’s “One Book, One Chicago” reading initiative, the Temple
invites you to join us on Sundays, July 10 and 31 (12:15–1:30 p.m. in James Parlor), for a discussion about the recently published book: “The South Side: A Portrait of Chicago and American Segregation”. Its author is Natalie Y. Moore, a Chicago native and South Side bureau reporter for WBEZ, the NPR–member station in this city. The book is a fascinating “must read” that explores and explains the linkage between segregation and many systemic inequities in Chicago and other cities. Our conversation is a continuation of Church & Society’s race discussion series which began earlier in the year. You can purchase the book independently, check out a copy from the Chicago Public Library, or order a book at the first floor Narthex table today, June 19, or next Sunday, June 26. All are invited to participate!
