Advent at the Temple
The congregation at the Chicago Temple has been spreading holiday cheer during this season of Advent.
On Sunday, December 9th, the Family Ministries collected a special offering for our annual Angel Tree participation. Angel Tree is a program whereby local churches buy gifts for children on behalf of an incarcerated parent. The gifts were purchased by the Family Ministries Team this past week and were delivered to the families over the weekend! We hoped to raise enough money to buy presents for the 15 families we were assigned. The church went above and beyond in donations so we asked Angel Tree for some more names. Thanks to the generosity of the church we were able to buy gifts for 40 families!
This past week the Temple Choir was also busy sharing their gifts with the community for the holidays. On Wednesday, the choir made the short walk across the street to the Christkindlmarket to sing carols to all who were shopping. Then on Sunday, after the services, the choir traveled to Bethany home to sing carols and spend time with the residents. We are so thankful for our generous church community and their outpouring of gifts this past week. Let us all continue to be a blessing to all during this Christmastime season!
